    Kittens

    Saturday, August 30, 2008, 04:26 PM [General]

About 2 weeks ago, my dog broke through our fence to go after some kittens.  Of course to most this would be appalling, but not to me, since she wasn't trying to chase them or harm them.  Instead my 80 pond puppy named Sage decided to bring these pitiful little fluffballs home.  She had 3 of them following her back to the yard when my husband finally found her.

So my husband (who can't stand cats due mostly to his alergy to them) came rushing home to get a box.  He went back out to collect the kittens and in addition to the 3 already making thier way to our yard he discovered 2 more.  So we are currently nursing 5 adorable kittens back to health.

When they first came to us, they hadn't eaten in quite some time and had a minor eye infection.  Thier eyes were so crusted they were sealed shut, and as a result they were filled with puss.  After getting them fed and cleaned, they abrutly adopted us.  So we now have 5 very active and energetic kittens that are between 6 and 7 weeks old running around my home.

    The irony of this:

    1. They were found/adopted by my puppy.

    2. They were brought home by my husband who can't stand cats and is allergic to cats.

    3. They were born roughly the same time I decided to change my path from Christianity.

    4. My husband decided without my asking , hinting or prompting to let us keep 1 of the kittens.

To many coinsedences, even my husband has agreed to let me keep 1.  Unfortunately I can't keep all 5.  However, I am elated that we get to keep 1 of the little dears.  I have been trying to convince him to let me get a cat for about 8 years.

    Any advice?

    Tuesday, August 19, 2008, 04:46 PM [General]

I have spent my life trying to fit into my parents' religion.  From the time I was a child it never seemed to make sense.  Certain beliefs and ideas of Christianity just didn't fit with the way I felt and thought.  I could go on for ages on this topic.

I started researching the pagan and wiccan religions when I was about 17.  It started out as a project for school but quickly turned into something much more personal.  After a few weeks I turned away for fear of what my family would say if I turned away from thier church and thier faith.

It has been 10 years since then and I have decided I can no longer continue this charade.  I still belive in God, but I have always felt there is so much more to the concept.  I have stared reading about the different paths again and realized that this change feels right for me.

Does anyone have any advice on telling friends and family?  My husband is very supportive, but I don't know how to tell my family full of chistian missionaries that I feel a stronger pull to the Godess than I ever have to God.  Any ideas would be very helpful....especially since I have none.

The Dalles is right on the river. I will post a pic in relation to the dams so you can see where we are. There was a fire across the river in a place called Trout Lake, WA, that looks a lot like your pic.

    Great to meet you!

Merry Meet!! I live in The Dalles, and your picture looks like it was nearby in Washington. I too have problems with my father's side of the family and their religious beliefs. They believe are the typical Xtian fanatics that you hear about, and one cousin is a pastor in training and his little brother is still in ministry school.

    Bright Blessings!
