About 2 weeks ago, my dog broke through our fence to go after some kittens. Of course to most this would be appalling, but not to me, since she wasn't trying to chase them or harm them. Instead my 80 pond puppy named Sage decided to bring these pitiful little fluffballs home. She had 3 of them following her back to the yard when my husband finally found her.
So my husband (who can't stand cats due mostly to his alergy to them) came rushing home to get a box. He went back out to collect the kittens and in addition to the 3 already making thier way to our yard he discovered 2 more. So we are currently nursing 5 adorable kittens back to health.
When they first came to us, they hadn't eaten in quite some time and had a minor eye infection. Thier eyes were so crusted they were sealed shut, and as a result they were filled with puss. After getting them fed and cleaned, they abrutly adopted us. So we now have 5 very active and energetic kittens that are between 6 and 7 weeks old running around my home.
The irony of this:
1. They were found/adopted by my puppy.
2. They were brought home by my husband who can't stand cats and is allergic to cats.
3. They were born roughly the same time I decided to change my path from Christianity.
4. My husband decided without my asking , hinting or prompting to let us keep 1 of the kittens.
To many coinsedences, even my husband has agreed to let me keep 1. Unfortunately I can't keep all 5. However, I am elated that we get to keep 1 of the little dears. I have been trying to convince him to let me get a cat for about 8 years.

The Dalles is right on the river. I will post a pic in relation to the dams so you can see where we are. There was a fire across the river in a place called Trout Lake, WA, that looks a lot like your pic.
